$22.00 - Item#N129DOVE

The ceramic disk in this necklace was created by Elaine Ray, and measures 1-1/14 inches across. I added the beads and the charms. The necklace features coconut shell beads in graduated colors, from beige to brown. Charms include copper heart, stone bead and copper disk. Necklace measures 17 inches long, with copper lobster clasp. This is a handmade original piece of adornment art and there is only one available. Gift boxed. Please note: Monitors vary, so colors may not be exactly the same in person. This piece has more of a rose or lavender tint than I could capture in the photos.

$18.00 - Item#N129FF

This piece was inspired by the necklace seen on the character Kaylee in the flashback of Firefly episode “Out of Gas.” The carved bone pendant is not exactly like hers, but it’s as close as I could find. Accented with a glass bead and hung on suede cord. Measures 18 inches long. Perfect for both costuming and everyday wear. Only one available. Gift boxed. Please note: Monitors vary, so colors may not be exactly the same in person.

Steampunk Style Jewelry book released early!

December 16th, 2009 by Jen

jlh-book.jpg

For those of you who didn’t already see my tweets and Facebook posts, I wanted to mention that the book “Steampunk Style Jewelry” by Jean Campbell was released earlier than expected. It is now available on Amazon for ordering in time for the holidays. I have a copy right here in front of me, and I can tell you it’s gorgeous. Not only does it include three of my own original jewelry projects (the Horological Faery Gadget necklace shown above, as well as Gearrings and an Airship Captain’s Ring), but also several projects by other artists and a wealth of information about steampunk, including modding, movies, antique shopping, cosplay and more! This is the most amazing craft book I’ve ever seen. You want one.

I will be at the “Celtic Christmas” party at Tir na nOg Irish Pub from 3:30-8pm this Sunday, with lots of new jewelry. Whatever does not sell will be listed here after the party. There will be live music, Irish & Scottish dancers, great food, drink and lots of craic. This event benefits the Andrew Britton Foundation, whose annual short story competition I won this year.

SOLD European Coin Earrings

October 2nd, 2009 by Jen

jlh-109-relicearrings.jpg
jlh-recyclingsymbol-sm.jpg  I made these one-of-a-kind earrings with 5-pfennig coins, fleur-de-lis charms, and faceted Czech glass. Hanging from brass leverback earwires. Only one pair available, the item shown here is exactly the one you will receive. Earrings measure 2 inches long, not including earwires (image is enlarged to show details).

The coins themselves are a bit of a history lesson. One reads “Bank Deutscher Lander 1949,” and was one of the first coins circulated in the German Federal Republic after WWII. Uncirculated coins of this type can be worth as much as $50, according to online sources. The other coin, which features the same image but reads “Bundesrepublick Deutchland 1950,” is a standard circulation coin issued from 1950-1999, and removed from circulation when the euro was adopted in 2002. The coins feature oak leaves on the obverse, and wheat on the reverse. The fleur-de-lis, or “lily,” is an old European symbol, often associated with France but widely used as a design motif.
