I was told that these stones are turquoise. They have a lovely bluish-green and brown marbled pattern reminiscent of copper and verdigris (the blue-green patina that appears on aged copper). Dreamy threads of blue and green… The centerpiece of this necklace is a kiln-annealed lampwork glass bead handmade by my friend Wendy Puckett in North Carolina. Labradorite has a unique play of colors called labradorescence or schiller effect, which makes it sparkle yellow, blue or purple in the light. In gem lore, labradorite is said to help you fulfill your destiny. Rhodonite gets its name from the Greek ‘rhodos’ meaning rosy-colored. It is worn to soothe the nervous system.
