Neo-Victorian “TOYS” Bracelet

March 6th, 2010 by Jen

jlh-310-toys.jpg

$28.00 - Item#B310TOYS

This is a handmade, one-of-a-kind original piece of adornment art created in my private studio. Features brass chain, brass roller skate, propeller beanie, doll, bicycle and monkey charms. Old-fashioned typewriter key style letters spell “TOYS.” Letter charms measure 3/4-inch across. I am often asked where I get these typewriter letter charms — I make them myself using materials from a store called Panopolie. Bracelet measures 7-1/4 inches long, with brass lobster claw clasp. This is the standard women’s bracelet length. If you know from past experience that bracelets bought in the store are too big or too tight on you, then you will probably need this one re-sized. Re-sizing is free if you put a note in the “instructions to seller” box when checking out.

Please note that the propeller beanie charm has a moving propeller on top. While this is really cool and cute, it can also easily snag on clothing or get caught on something and become bent. I will include one replacement beanie charm with the bracelet when purchased. My steampunk and neo-Victorian pieces are considered costuming pieces and works of art, and as such may not be as practical or hardy as other jewelry items.

jlh-310-flowering.jpg
jlh-recyclingsymbol-sm.jpg  $8.00 - Item#R310FLOWER

This ring was made with an old button I purchased in an antique store. It’s a little difficult to tell in the picture, but the button contains a small relief of a gold flower on a stem with leaves, surrounded by a purplish patina. The ring is a size 7 on my ring mandrel, made with gunmetal wire. Button measures just over a 1/4-inch across (images enlarged to show details). One-of-a-kind (OOAK) item, created in my private studio, only one available. Gift boxed.

Steampunk Style Jewelry book released early!

December 16th, 2009 by Jen

jlh-book.jpg

For those of you who didn’t already see my tweets and Facebook posts, I wanted to mention that the book “Steampunk Style Jewelry” by Jean Campbell was released earlier than expected. It is now available on Amazon for ordering in time for the holidays. I have a copy right here in front of me, and I can tell you it’s gorgeous. Not only does it include three of my own original jewelry projects (the Horological Faery Gadget necklace shown above, as well as Gearrings and an Airship Captain’s Ring), but also several projects by other artists and a wealth of information about steampunk, including modding, movies, antique shopping, cosplay and more! This is the most amazing craft book I’ve ever seen. You want one.

jlh-recyclingsymbol-sm.jpg  This is a handmade, one-of-a-kind item I created using real watch gears and parts, a brass lock charm, filigree and other found items. Necklace is brass chain with faceted Czech glass. The centerpiece measures 2-3/4 inches long. Necklace is adjustable between 16-20 inches long, with spring clasp.

There may be sharp or pointy parts which could snag on clothing and/or break off, and these creations should not be subjected to chemicals, perfumes, dyes, lotions, or rigorous treatment, such as wearing while exercising, swimming, working, cleaning, etc. Please note that I have no way to 100% guarantee the condition of any vintage, recycled or “rescued” parts, in regards to being hypoallergenic, or whether they contain lead, nickel, aluminum or any other materials. Purchase and wear at your discretion.
