Tiny Gnome Terrarium

June 1st, 2009 by Jen

msb-118-gnome1.jpg

$8.00 - Item#GNOMEHOME

Gnome Terrariums measure just two inches high (not including cork, image enlarged to show details) and are wonderful, self-contained, magical environments which need very little care & attention. Your Gnome Terrarium has just the right balance of fairy dust, moss, and stone to maintain a single North American Diminutive Wildwood Gnome. No watering nor feeding is required, just an occasional cotton swabbing if the fairy dust gets out of control. Simply remove the cork during each full moon, and your Gnome will conduct its necessary business and return by morning. IMPORTANT: Without magic, they will not thrive. You must whisper a wish to your Gnome at least once a week. Keeping your Gnome Terrarium near stones, plants, ceramic unicorns, pewter wizards, and any other magical items or creatures also helps to maintain the health of your Gnome. ALL GNOMES ARE WILLING PARTICIPANTS IN THE GNOME TERRARIUM, AND NO GNOMES ARE HARMED WHILE MAKING THIS PRODUCT. Join the Gnome Terrarium project and help preserve the Gnome population as its imaginary habitat dwindles.

Each Gnome Terrarium is handmade and unique; stones, moss, fairy dust and gnomes will vary. Each Gnome Terrarium comes in a dark green drawstring pouch, along with an instruction sheet.

Bulk and wholesale orders are possible for this item. Contact me for additional information.

Lady of Shalott Necklace

May 26th, 2009 by Jen

jlh-059-shalott.jpg

jlh-recyclingsymbol-sm.jpg  $25.00 - Item#N059SHALOTT

“Lying, robed in snowy white
That loosely flew to left and right –
The leaves upon her falling light –
Thro’ the noises of the night,
She floated down to Camelot:
And as the boat-head wound along
The willowy hills and fields among,
They heard her singing her last song,
The Lady of Shalott.”

This pendant contains an image of The Lady of Shalott, an 1888 painting by one of my favorite artists, John William Waterhouse. The painting is based on the Tennyson poem of the same name (one stanza is given above; you can read the entire poem here). The image is set in a brass bezel, coated with Ice Resin, and backed with copper filigree. The necklace is a mixture of brass and copper, with green Czech glass, and incorporates a vintage chain with an unusual design and lovely green patina. The pendant is 1-1/8 inches across, and 2-1/2 inches long from the top of the copper bail to the bottom of the image. The chain is a romantic 24 inches long. One-of-a-kind (OOAK) item, created in my private studio, only one available. Gift boxed.

Free first class shipping & handling is included with all items! Click here for details.

jlh-059-shalott2.jpg
From Wikipedia: “According to legend, the Lady of Shalott was forbidden to look directly at the outside world; instead she was doomed to view the world through a mirror, and weave what she saw into tapestry. One day the Lady saw Sir Lancelot in the reflection of the mirror, and dared to look out at Camelot, bringing about a curse. The lady escaped by boat during an autumn storm. As she sailed towards Camelot, she sang a lament. Her frozen body was found shortly afterwards by the knights and ladies of Camelot, one of whom is Lancelot, who prayed to God to have mercy on her soul.”

jlh-059-ladylake.jpg

$28.00 - Item#E059LLAKE

These beads captivated me the moment I saw them! Such an unusual shade of deep, sparkling blue-gray-green, like the waters of a magical lake. The earrings include eight Swarovski crystals, six faceted Czech glass drops, and two brass filigree. Measure 2 inches long, not including the nickel-free brass leverback ear wires in that measurement. One of a kind item, only one pair available, designed and handmade in my private studio. The picture (which is enlarged to show details) is exactly the item you will receive. Gift boxed.

The Lady of the Lake gave King Arthur the sword Excalibur. Different versions of the story give her name as Nimue, Vivian, Elaine or Niniane. In many European myths, magical women are associated with bodies of water.

Sterling Silver “Celtic Stones” Earrings

May 18th, 2009 by Jen

msb-118-ssknotsnstones.jpg

$25.00 - Item#E059STONES

The Celts used scrolling patterns and curvilinear designs to embellish everything — books, stone monuments, jewelry, horse bridles and more. In that tradition, these earrings feature Celtic style knotwork embellished with real peridot and labradorite faceted stone drops. All metal is sterling silver. The earrings measure 1-5/8 inches long, not including the french hook ear wires in that measurement. One of a kind item, only one pair available, designed and handmade in my private studio. The picture (which is enlarged to show details) is exactly the item you will receive. Gift boxed.

Peridot, the lighter green stone, is the birthstone for August and the 16th Wedding Anniversary stone. In gem lore, peridot is said to be uplifting, bringing joy, confidence and happiness. Labradorite is for self-esteem, mental clarity, and enhancement of spiritual gifts.
