Moss agate does not actually contain moss, it just looks like it does. Agates are a diverse group of mineral gemstones which include carnelian, blue lace, fire agate and picture agate, just to name a few. In gem lore, moss agate is said to help with balance, stability and healing.

Interlaced designs are found in many cultures. Knotwork, spirals and curvilinear patterns are found in ancient Celtic jewelry, illuminated Irish manuscripts, prehistoric monuments, and medieval stone crosses. We don’t know for certain, but at some time in the ancient past, knotwork might have represented the cycles of nature, the immortality of the soul, or a labyrinth for meditation. If you are told that a particular pattern is “Lugh’s knot” or “Arthur’s knot” or a “Love Knot,” it is only the artist’s poetic license, or the retailer’s BS!

These earrings are small altered-art collages I made using found items (magazine cutouts, stickers and retro images), set in silvertone bezels, and sealed with Ice Resin. Ice Resin is a high-quality, crystal clear resin. It does not yellow, and is more durable than other craft sealants. However, it is not indestructible. Care should be taken with this, as with all jewelry, not to immerse it in water, lotions, sprays or cleaning chemicals, or subject it to rough treatment.

Sterling silver earrings feature freshwater pearls and faceted stones. I was told that the stones were labradorite, but I think they look more like andalusite to me (both can look a little iridescent, but the labradorite tends to be more gray/blue, and andalusite green/brown, from what I’ve seen). Measure 3/4-inch long (not including the earwires). Designed and handmade in my studio. Original, handmade, one-of-a-kind jewelry; only one pair available. >Gift boxed.

For some reason, the photograph makes the stones look very brown. They are actually almost green, and more translucent, when the light hits them. According to stone lore, labradorite reveals our spiritual destiny, psychic abilities, and wisdom of the universe.

They feature “foofaraw pink” glass flower beads, and brass heart-shaped charms with the Chinese characters for “Double Happiness,” which Kaylee is seen wearing in the final scenes of the movie SERENITY.
