SOLD Spacepunk Necklace

jlh-recyclingsymbol-sm.jpg This pendant was made using a ceramic base created by North Carolina ceramic artist Elaine Ray. The glaze gives it a metallic finish similar to hematite stone. In the center I cemented a mainspring barrel from a pocket watch, within which I set a metallic glass dome. The dome is reflective, which is what you’re seeing in the picture — it’s reflecting the white surface on which the necklace rests, and it’s also reflecting my front door, trees outside, and my camera. The pendant is hung on a gunmetal chain, and the clasp hooks on a watch gear. Necklace chain measures 22 inches long. Pendant is 1-1/2 inches across. This is a handmade, one-of-a-kind (OOAK) item, created in my private studio. Gift boxed. Monitors vary, so color may be slightly different in person.

I use the term “spacepunk” for this style of jewelry because the pieces are inspired by two of my loves — Steampunk and Sci-fi. While the term “steampunk” generally conjures images of brass and propellers, my spacepunk pieces are silver, gunmetal, and more futuristic rather than anachronistic.
