SOLD Ghost Pirate Ship Necklace

June 23rd, 2009 by Jen

jlh-609-pirate.jpg

jlh-recyclingsymbol-sm.jpg  The pendant of this here necklace be made using an image carved with me own cutlass from the DVD box of a popular pirate movie, then set in a brass bezel and covered with Ice Resin. The ghost pirate ship image measures 1-1/2 by 2 inches. Just aloft of the pendant be a small skull bead, carved from the bone of the last scurvy dog who crossed me.* Above that, and also around the perimeter of said necklace, are black faceted “turban cut” Czech glass beads from far-off ports. The centerpiece of the chain is an English half penny coin, booty taken from the last East India Company ship we sank off the coast of Barbados.**

The necklace is 18 inches long, but the trigger clasp may be hooked on any link to wear it smaller. A compass rose charm hangs down the back of the neck. One-of-a-kind (OOAK) item, created in my private studio, absolutely only one available. Gift boxed. Note: Ice Resin is a water resistant acrylic coating, but care should be taken when wearing. I’m not sure how this substance might react to cleaning chemicals, lotions, perfumes, nail polish remover, etc.

* Not really. But that would be cool.

** The coin was actually rescued from a vintage bracelet, and features a ship and “Half Penny 1954″ on one side (shown inset, above), and Queen Elizabeth II on the reverse. However, the “9″ in “1954″ is where the hole is, so we can pretend it’s 1754, right?

jlh-609-bigbr2.jpg

$26.00 - Item#B118EARTH

I love working with natural materials. The energy and the incredible color combinations are always inspiring to me. This piece is a one-of-a-kind, chunky, earthy bracelet featuring wood, stone, ceramic and bone beads, linked with a high-quality silver-plated European copper-core wire. Includes ocean jasper, bronzite stone, carved bone bead, and the ceramic bead is made by artist Elaine Ray. The largest bead measures 1 inch across, the smallest 5/8 inch across. The bracelet is slightly adjustable, and fits the “standard” women’s wrist of 7 to 7-1/2 inches, but I can adjust it larger or small if desired. Just put a note in the instructions box when ordering (smaller sizing would require the removal of the smallest, bronzite bead, larger sizing would be the addition of extension links and a slightly larger clasp).

Garnet Necklace with Carved Cross Pendant

June 18th, 2009 by Jen

jlh-609-garnetcross.jpg

$30.00 - Item#N118GC

This necklace is made with real garnets and features a carved horn pendant with a cross in the center. Pendant measures 1-3/16 inches high, necklace is adjustable between 17 and 18 inches long. The picture shows exactly the item you will receive (image is enlarged to show details). Only one available, designed and handmade in my private studio. Gift boxed.

Garnet is the birthstone for January, but you don’t have to be born in winter to enjoy this beautiful stone whose name comes from the Latin word for “seed” due to its resemblance to pomegranate seeds. Garnet is an ancient gemstone and has been worn by humans for thousands of years. In gem lore, the garnet is said to protect one on journeys, bring success in business and to attract friends. Deep red garnets are also associated with love.

SOLD Time Machine Key

jlh-609-timekey.jpg

jlh-recyclingsymbol-sm.jpg  The centerpiece of this necklace is a pendant inspired by the time machine key in “Time After Time (1979),” which is one of my favorite movies. My “key” measures just over 2 inches long (image is enlarged to show detail), and was made using a little piece of brass hardware I found in an antique shop, and a faceted crystal clear Czech glass bead.
