My Firefly: Season 2

April 30th, 2009 by Jen

UPDATED 10-29-09: Before I started selling jewelry on the internet, I was a writer. I worked for several years as a reporter, magazine writer, and editor. Recently, I was the 2009 first place winner of the Andrew Britton Short Story Competition, with one of my own original stories.

For kicks a few years ago, I thought I’d try writing episodes for a Firefly Season 2. I’ve posted four episodes on FireflyFans.net. I am currently working on episodes 5 and 6.

These are written in screenplay format, with appropriate teasers, commercial breaks, etc. I’m not anywhere near as obsessive as some fanfic writers, but I’ve tried to keep these as true to Firefly and Serenity as possible. They pick up pretty much right where the movie leaves off.

I’ve hesitated to fess up to this little indulgence — I don’t need to be reminded that I’m no Joss Whedon! But they seem to be enjoyable to those who are into this sort of thing. And since there’s no actual season two in sight…

EPISODE ONE: A Dream Come True

EPISODE TWO: Secrets

EPISODE THREE: Back to Hell

EPISODE FOUR: Persephone

SOLD SERENITY spacepunk bracelet

Take my love, take my land,
Wear my ship parts ’round your hand …

jlh-recyclingsymbol-sm.jpg  This bracelet was largely inspired by the cult sci-fi Joss Whedon TV show FIREFLY and the movie SERENITY. It’s also similar to some of my former “spacepunk” bracelets, which look like they were made on a space station. This piece features two large Nigerian brass beads (each measuring 5/8-inch across), stone beads, a large disk bead made by North Carolina ceramic artist Elaine Ray (measuring 1-inch across), and a large metal ring (measuring 1-inch across) recycled from a vintage piece of costume jewelry. One-of-a-kind item.
