SOLD Steampunk Amusement Park Necklace

jlh-029-amusement2.jpg

This necklace was made with vintage pocket watch and wrist watch parts, and old, brass amusement park tokens. The tokens were purchased from an antiques dealer who said they were found in a sack in an old Ohio barn, but I have no idea exactly how old they are or where they originally came from. Each token says “For Amusement Only” on the front, and “Token Has No Cash Or Trade Value” on the back. Tokens measure 3/4-inch across, and have some spots of discoloration and patina. The necklace is 17 inches long, and the centerpiece measures 1-1/2 inches across (image enlarged below to show details). The gears on the centerpiece are wired in place, not glued, thought I did use some resin and E6000 for added stability. One-of-a-kind (OOAK), created in my private studio, this item is SOLD.

This piece was inspired, in part, by one of my favorite songs, the Dresden Dolls‘ “Coin Operated Boy.”
