Today I discovered that I’d been mentioned in TWO different places online… My Steampunk Machine Necklace was featured in ceramic artist Elaine Ray’s blog… AND I just found out that I was mentioned in a Rings & Things article about steampunk (click on “Steampunk: The Ultimate in Vintage Fashion” August 2008), along with such notable artists as Melanie Lukacs and Keith LoBue. I am honored to be in such company.

This pendant was created using a ceramic bezel made by North Carolina artist Elaine Ray, which is a beige clay painted with an iron-colored glaze, giving it a finish almost like hematite stone. In the center, I’ve set some old pocket watch gears (a brass gear within a steel spring casing), and hung the finished piece from a gunmetal chain, with heavy copper jump rings and a large brass clasp.
