This necklace was created with watch parts, gears, brass and copper charms, on an unusual mechanical-looking chain. The centerpiece includes a part of the internal workings of a vintage pocket watch and reads “Standard Watch Co. Syracuse NY” along with the numbers “334425″ on the front. I named the piece “Constance” for two reasons: Because the word constancy means steadfast and loyal devotion and faithfulness, which is represented by the heart-shaped lock on the decorative “mechanism”; and also because of the character Constance in the movie Monster House. My children and I love that movie — there is a heart-shaped lock and key in that film also, and themes of love and devotion.

My steampunk jewelry is inspired by H.G. Wells, Da Vinci, Jules Verne, Oscar Wilde, the Victorian period, Belle Epoque, Edwardian era, art nouveau, and other similar historic and literary sources. While these pieces are intended to be worn as jewelry, please keep in mind that they are also individual works of art and should be handled with care.
