This necklace was created with watch parts, gears, brass and copper charms, on an unusual mechanical-looking chain. The centerpiece includes a part of the internal workings of a vintage pocket watch and reads “Standard Watch Co. Syracuse NY” along with the numbers “334425″ on the front. Enlarged image, below, to show details. One-of-a-kind unique creation, handmade in my private studio. Centerpiece measures 1-5/8 inches across, heart-shaped lock is 5/8-inch high.

I named the piece “Constance” for two reasons: Because the word constancy means steadfast and loyal devotion and faithfulness, which is represented by the heart-shaped lock on the decorative “mechanism”; and also because of the character Constance in the movie Monster House. My children and I love that movie — there is a heart-shaped lock and key in that film also, and themes of love and devotion.
