SOLD Victorian Carnival Necklace

November 27th, 2007 by Jen

msb-117-fun01.jpg

This piece was made with vintage brass tokens found in an Ohio barn, each says “For Amusement Only” and features some naturally-occurring spots of patina. Typewriter-style letter charms spell FUN. Also includes one bicycle charm (an 1880s high-wheel style bicycle), an old-fashioned metal roller skate with movable wheels, a carousel horse, and a heart. Amusement tokens are 3/4-inch across, typewriter key charms 7/8-inch. Enlarged image, below, to show details. Only one available, handmade in my studio.

While not strictly “steampunk,” this necklace does feature brass and Victoriana motifs which are part of the steam aesthetic. Not everything has to include gears, does it?
